Eric H. Traupe, MBA
Chief Strategy Officer
Eric Traupe is the Chief Strategy Officer for the Johnson Financial Group (JFG). In this capacity, Eric works with the entire JFG team to drive results by enhancing the firm’s focus on strategic initiatives, client relationships, coaching/professional training, and human capital development. He brings to JFG a unique background with deep experience in risk assessment, cybersecurity awareness, and providing context on geopolitical events. Eric offers clients insights on financial, economic, and political factors that impact the overall investment climate.
Eric is a former government executive with 30+ years of combined operational and executive experience in the CIA and the US Marine Corps. Throughout his career he was a trusted advisor to CIA Directors, Presidents, Cabinet and military officials, and members of Congress. He also participated in a range of White House strategy, policy, and resource decisions. After leaving the public sector, Eric founded Azimuth Global LLC, a consulting firm that provides strategic advisory services to Fortune 500 companies in the technology, security, and market risk sectors. His professional experience also includes venture capital investing, executive coaching, and he is an active public speaker on topics related to geopolitics, leadership, and risk management.
Eric holds an MBA in International Business from American University and a BA in Communications from the University of Michigan. While at Michigan, he played football participating in two Rose Bowls and a Gator Bowl. He earned awards for distinction during his government career and has since remained active in fundraising for causes that support veterans.
Eric and his wife Denise enjoy playing golf, walking their dog “Mac”, and traveling the world. Eric has two adult children; one who is pursuing a career in technology and the other is a recent college graduate.
